Lovely Vesuvianite specimen from the long-closed Jeffrey Mine, a former asbestos quarry in Val-des-Sources, Estrie, Quebec, Canada. Once a prolific source of Garnet, Vesuvianite, and other minerals, specimen mining has not occurred here since 2001!
This is an aggregate of many smaller crystals, and you can see just how many nice terminated faces are present! Many are doubly-terminated. There is also a purple zone in this specimen, due to the presence of Manganese in the crystal structure. Less common than the pure green Vesuvianite!
3.02g - ~0.65" length
