Beautiful bi-color Vesuvianite specimen from the long-closed Jeffrey Mine, a former asbestos quarry in Val-des-Sources, Estrie, Quebec, Canada. Once a prolific source of Garnet, Vesuvianite, and other minerals, specimen mining has not occurred here since 2001!

This piece is an aggregate of many smaller Vesuvianite crystals. Some are green, some are purple in color. The purple crystals contain traces of Manganese in the crystal structure, and are technically referred to as Manganoan Vesuvianite. This is less commonly seen than the pure green Vesuvianite. An aesthetic example of this material!
